It really isn't about the bike!

The few biking pictures were taken from Monday's ride. These people from Life South met us just over theAlabama state line.

From Huntsville again; We visited the Huntsville Hospital this morning. They had prepared an event for us in one of their lecture halls. After brief introductory remarks, Mary Kate introduced each rider to the audience. Then two members of the team spoke. Bruce gave a brief talk from a physicians perspective about the value of blood products, and stated that in all of the years he has ordered blood products for his patients there has never been a denial of his request due to a shortage of a particular product. Perry McGriff spoke about the history of the ride, and pointed out that one rider, Rodney Ford, has ridden in all seven rides.

We then toured the hospital, eating in the cafeteria.

I returned with Rodney Ford, to meet with a family of 5 year old son who is waiting for a bone marrow transplant donor match. The statistics for his chances of finding a match is approximately 17%, as African Americans do not have sufficient numbers of donors on the bone marrow registry. A bone marrow match is a probability game, the more tested and on the registry, the greater the likelihood of finding a match.

I am going to rest the remainder of the day, hoping that will give me the energy I will need for the ride to Chattanooga tomorrow. The weather has improved, and we should have a nice day on the bike.

Perry et al,
I am enjoying reading about your progress and all the good things you are doing out there. I wish you all success with your message and safety in your ride. I hope one day to be strong enough to come out again and join y'll.
God bless and keep the rubber side down,
