Greetings from rainy Huntsville

The emotions of the last three days have been like the terrain, up and down I have managed to catch a cold three days ago, forcing me to take two days off. I did not even feel well enough to post this blog. However, I hope that from now on I will be back in the saddle again.!

I was able to ride to Florence, a challenging ride on the Natchez Trace trail, some 82 miles. The few scenes here are from that ride on Monday. That is Bruce appearing to trying to move the truck sideways! The most challenging part of that ride were two long climbs two miles long, 5% grade. They were quite a challenge to everyone. But we all made it.
Bruce is also seen here standing with perhaps the strongest rider, Tom Colombi from Canada. In case you don't recognize Bruce, he is the one with warpaint on!

Later that same day I was taken to a local country radio station with fellow ride Rodney, where we were interviewed on live talk radio.

Yesterday (Tuesday) was a ride that ended in Huntsville. Along the way we visited a highschool where we met with various grades, middle school age to seniors. Teams of roommates went to individual classrooms and spoke to the students about our mission and the importance of their involvement in donating. I am not sure we made much of an impact as there were glazed looks that I am sure we have all seen from teenagers. When we asked if there were any questions, they wanted to know where we slept.

The next stop was at a hospital wellness center, where we were met with a great deal of enthusiasm and shown a very good time. We met staff and various officials, including the mayor.

Yesterday was also a day of police escorts, as each county provided sheriffs both front and rear to fend of traffic at intersections and provide protection for the riders. It did rain off and on for the larger part of the day, and near the end of the ride it poured!

I was relieved to have made the decision not to ride, as I am sure wet and chilly would not help me get over this cold.

Today we have a press conference, then are going to be treated to a massage in the afternoon!!

Thanks to all of you who have sent encouragement and supportive words. Even some inspirational poetry by DOM.
